​ @ayave noneym Prior to the Nether update, Nether survival would have been fairly difficult to accomplish without some form of starting gear (saplings and dirt mainly), but due to the Nether update, survival in the Nether is possible, just... High risk, especially in Hardcore due to the inherrant hostility you face from many mobs in the Nether. I'd suggest taking a look on the minecraft wiki to study what resources are available to you in the nether, and outline a plan as to how you might be able to survive with said gear. One huge disadvantage to restricting yourself to just the Nether in a Hardcore playthrough is that you have no access to totems of undying (no raids), so I'd imagine you will experience much more frustration than Luke's failed hardcore attempts. In fact, one thing I can definitely say is that you will be playing VERY cautiously, and will likely have to resort to killing wither skeletons with your bare hands until you amass sufficient bones to grow nether mushrooms into harvestable, big ones (stems can be crafted into wood, and from there you can make some pickaxes). Speaking of tools though, another huge disadvantage is that you will be unable to access cobblestone being restricted to the nether, so it is very likely you will end up using looted tools (iron most likely, even if I would recommend using said tools sparingly) until you can harvest and amass enough gold to then consistently forge gear. Diamonds are not impossible to find in the nether due to the nether update, but do not expect a full kit of armor anytime soon. Long story short; be prepared for a very, very long, grueling experience until you can grow a few nether mushrooms and consistently craft gear. I'd say practice in a non-hardcore minecraft world first, at least until you are able to reliably grow nether mushrooms and acquire gear. From there + some additional research on the wiki you can probably form a reliable strategy to properly survive a Nether only Hardcore challenge. Oh, and be prepared for the gameplay progression to be much slower, and also losing access to many commonly used features during late game Hardcore playthroughs due to lack of access to the End and Overworld dimensions. Oh, and automation is probably going to be nonexistant, since last I checked, the Nether does not naturally spawn redstone that much, and many redstone contraptions require cobblestone in some form.
